Want to put your heart and hands to work with us? We would love to meet you! Our family of volunteers, donors and adoption families are all part of the Harmony Family. We are 100% Volunteer Staffed – nobody draws a paycheck, our pay is filling needs for animals. If you are interested in some of the kinds of volunteer work please consider joining us through Facebook or by email.
MOST Saturdays are Work Days at the rescue. So from 10 am to 2 pm we generally need help on hands on projects. It could be scrubbing feed buckets, cleaning a coop/hutch/kennel/paddock/pen, or it could be moving feed or a bigger project that we have going on. We also have projects that involve direct care with the animals such as grooming, walking/exercising and cleaning paddocks, tack.
Announcements are typically made on our facebook page –https://www.facebook.com/HNBAR/?fref=ts
Our rescue property doesn’t have very much parking available but we try to fit folks in like puzzle pieces so bear with us. We also expect folks to be prepared at all times for Oregon weather (mudboots, waterproofing yourself, work gloves, sunscreen (hahahaha), and providing yourself with water to drink or a quick snack.) We have animals here that are special cases and we ask for folks to ask first about handling animals, we want you to be safe as well as the animals. Please remember we specialize in small fear aggressive dogs so we always have dogs that bite in our dog yard.
Why not every day to show up? Keep in mind that our founders Joy and David Laudahl live onsite and much of the weekly work is done within a certain amount of hours of the day. If Joy and David need extra help on a non-workday Saturday they will definitely reach out and communicate this need. Sundays are respectfully a family day for them.
Just want to stop in for a Visit? If you are just wanting to visit the rescue to check us out on a weekday and not on that week’s available Volunteer Work Day Saturday we need to have that visit scheduled as an appointment so please call (leave a message if need be) 503-569-1797 (David) , 503-569-1969 (Joy). We cannot always do a same day visits since every one have employment outside of the rescue, we do our best to accommodate all. We operate 24/7 and 365 days a year but we do need people to respect that there are times set aside for dropping in and those are the Volunteer Work Day Saturdays. Often during the day we are out in the barns or working with animals so please leave a message so we can get back to you. We welcome you to come check us out and hope to hear from you soon. Thank you for your support!
