UPDATE: 5/12/15 Today Sherri was adopted by a family! That’s right a family! We want to thank our kind donors and wonderful foster home provided by Larissa and Kristen. There is a bittersweet moment for each foster home to watch their foster join their new family, but it is a sweet thing to know that the place that Sherri is at tonight is her home. Thanks to the collaboration of donors, fosters, the rescue and the new adoptive family Sherri is HOME.
Today a very unlikely pup joined the Harmony family. She is looking for a real home but for now she is in a warm foster home. She has taken all the changes to her life today very well. She has met people, farm animals, cats all very well. She is very insecure and kept contact with the special young man that helped deliever her to our rescue. She is a super dog and did well with her assessment. She is now living in a real house with real every day stressors and she will be learning more about being a good dog. She is up for adoption but really needs some one that will commit for the long haul.
Honor is available for adoption. His adoption fee is $300. Please check out his album. He has filled out so fast and well, being fed and still doing so much learning, and he moves like a dream.
He is 4.5 years old and small but not stunted. He is going to require a small rider after good training. He is still not trusting with his feet yet, he was pretty much feral when we retrieved him with 9 other animals. He was very skinny and in need of handling. He requires a quiet personality who is a good leader for him. He is loving and willing to learn. He was gelded when he arrived here at the rescue. Is Honor the boy for you? Email us at HarmonyNBrescue@aol.com to meet him or if you would like to fill out an adoption form.
Tina came in with 9 horses! She was thin, had sores and distrusting. She has changed in just a couple months time of consistent feeding, water, shelter, companionship. She now guards her pasture and pasture mates and snorts at the deer who come to close. She is gaining weight and learning to be handled more and more. She needs someone who will understand that she is not just a pasture ornament, she is a being with needs like any other animal. Tina has been learning to like humans again and the more and more that humans like her she will learn to like them even more. If you are interested in adopting Tina we urge you to email us for an adoption form to be sent to you and to set up a time to meet her. Email is HarmonyNBrescue@aol.com
34″ tall He is gelded, vaccinated, trimmed, wormed, deloused and is getting friendlier by the day. He is the smallest of the group but was the head stallion. He is funny and very smart. Halter broke but a bit sneaky. Sometimes easy to catch , sometimes not so much. Loves drama. He is not kid safe yet and will require someone who is willing to put time into him.
Cyclone came to us, by owner surrender, with 9 other horses (minis, pony, and horses) and 1 Llama. He came as a stallion and we have made sure to get him gelded right away.
Jake is 9 years old, 14.2 hands high, POA gelding. He is handsome as you can see, but his charms lie in his personality. He is formally trained in English eventing and did do competition in California before moving to Oregon a couple years ago. He has huge potential and when he was in California he was the Pony Club mascot. He is friendly, athletic and smart. He LOVES the water. He likes crossing puddles and thinks it is fun to run through them over and over. He was intensively trained for eventing for 2 years with a great trainer (that info can be released upon adoption) and would be best suited for a confident Intermediate level eventer smaller adult/teen/child. He can be a little hot and we know with his age and breed it is understandable.
Jake is a nosy boy, he likes to see what his pasture mates are up to and he bonds very quickly to them and as a result becomes herd bound. The best thing we have been instructed for him is to be somewhere very regimented and busy (a busy stable where he is never truly alone). He is good in a stall, he moves around easily for cleaning around him. He bathes, sprays, blankets, clips, loads in a trailer, stands for the farrier and vet. Jake is up to date on de-worming, vaccinations and his teeth are in good shape according to the vet visit in January 2015. He is good around kids, dogs, chickens, cats, ducks, geese, people. His foster home reports that he gets nervous when his paddock mate leaves and does better if you replace the paddock mate with another horse so that his anxiety goes down. He came to his foster home at a body score of 2 heading to a 1 and is still gaining weight so he has NOT been being worked until his body score is higher, as of February he is about a 4.
If you are interested in Jake please email us so that we can give his foster home the information so that they can make arrangements with you about meeting him. He is in foster care in Battle Ground, WA. Because he is in Washington if he is to be moved to Oregon the adoptive family will be responsible for attaining a health certificate with Coggins testing (it is required by law.) Please see our page Want to adopt a Rescue? to learn about our adoption process. Our email is HarmonyNBRescue@aol.com
The BLUES BROTHERS STORY: Jake came to HNBAR as an owner surrender under special circumstances for the animal’s safety in a Domestic Violence situation where he and other horses were intentionally left to fend for themselves or given very little food. He and another gelding, Elwood Blues, came into foster care at a very low body condition score of 2 sliding to 1. They have been rehabilitating with their foster home since mid December. If you cannot adopt the Blues Brothers, please consider sponsoring them, if you cannot sponsor then consider sharing them with the hopes of finding them great homes and thank you for looking.
